Introduced last year to the CID Awards, the Interior Design Boutique Firm of the Year recognises the interior design firm with a staff of less than 30 and the most impressive portfolio of projects during the past year.
For the second year running, Bishop Design claimed the prize for this category, praised for its amazing range of commercial projects.
Judges felt that its rich portfolio showcases the designer' deep understanding of materiality and colours leading to unique user experiences. One judge also noted that "nice, coherent designs are well detailed and able to create themes that come alive through elaborate detailing and materialisation".
"To win two years in a row - that's just amazing. The main thing about boutique firms is we can really provide a personal service. The personal touch is what it is all about. If you can take on 10 projects rather than 100 you can give proper care and attention to every single detail," said Ellen Søhoel, former Bishop, managing partner at Bishop Design. "I really feel that boutique is the future - clients are looking for that level of commitment to their projects. Also the numbers of staff - you can give everyone personal attention too," she added.
